INVENTORS

We support you & your innovation

Wherever you are in your innovation journey PIVOT Center is here to support you. Let’s talk about how we can partner with you to successfully translate your invention to the commercial realm.

INVENTORS

  • PIVOT Center can connect you to important regional and international networks - necessary for your pathway to market. We provide all aspects of invention management, patent prosecution, licensing, startup formation and support, and access to early-stage funding. Each year we work with hundreds of your colleagues, processing annually an average of 200+ disclosures, and our office is proud to have guided the issuance of 1,300+ patents for the U’s faculty innovators.

  • Submit a confidential invention disclosure and correctly begin the processes necessary to pursue invention protection and commercialization activities. This is the first step in enabling the PIVOT Center to offer an inventor assistance and support throughout the commercialization process.

  • All inventions do not follow the same route to realization. Here are some sources of information, like an FAQ, to provide guidance for the journey.

  • Check out some opportunities to apply for grants and investment funds. The U offers several options like the Ascender Grant Program and the 1850 Venture Fund. • Even if you are just thinking about an idea for a company, it’s never too early to engage with one of PIVOT Center’s in-Residence experts (IRs). The benefits for a startup to partner with an IR are numerous, mainly allowing an inventor to focus on science of their innovation by working with those who can guide business decisions and lead the company towards success. IRs can bring together management teams, help guide a capital raise, condense the commercialization timeframe, and help an invention become a reality and make an impact.
